It’s a different kind of show than what OA has done in the past few years.
Although we all loved the nice blast to the past in Seussical and adored the classic Wizard of Oz, this year’s show is just as entertaining as the both of those, even if in a different way. The Addams Family, which centers around a family obsessed with death and pain, is much darker than shows Oliver Ames has done in recent years, yet still contains happy moments, heartfelt songs, and loveable characters. If you’re looking for something a little different than what you’re used to seeing, The Addams Family is the perfect wacky show for you!
Even if you’ve seen the movie, the musical is still entertaining and different.
To be honest, I didn’t even know that The Addams Family musical and the movie(s) were two very different things until I joined the cast of the musical myself. While the movies (there are more than one) depict more of the Addams family’s lifestyle and their daily encounters, whether they be at summer camp or school plays, the musical has an entirely different plot and has more of a love story at the heart of it… though I won’t tell you who it’s between! If you are worried that you’ll be bored during this musical because you’ve already seen the movies, do not fear – this plot is one you’ve likely never seen before!
Every single character has a different background.
If you’ve ever been to a musical before, it’s likely that many of the characters – especially those in the Ensemble – have similar backgrounds or are lumped together as one sort of character in themselves. In The Addams Family, this is far from the case. The Ancestors of the family, who make up the Ensemble in this show, are all different characters from different time periods in history. With ballerinas, flappers, soldiers, flight attendants, and more, they’ll be sure to be a character to you love and maybe even relate to!
It’s hilarious!
Who knew a show revolving around a family’s obsession with death could be so funny? With a zombie for a butler and a little girl whose prized possession is her bow and arrow, it’s hard to avoid laughing at the ridiculousness of the entire Addams family’s way of living. The show is never dry, as jokes are cracked practically every other line and only add to the developing plot the entire time. Who doesn’t like getting a good laugh in every now and then?
Why not?
And last but not least… what else are you planning on doing the second weekend in March? If nothing, then seeing The Addams Family is a great use of your time and a decision you certainly won’t regret! With three show dates – Friday March 9th at 7:30 pm, Saturday March 10th at 7:30 pm, and Sunday March 11th at 2:00 pm, there’s sure to be a time you can make it to come on in and enjoy living like an Addams for a couple hours – maybe you’ll even want to come back!
