Another one bites the dust ladies and gentlemen, and last night it was Pembroke. The Oliver Ames Boys Soccer team was crowned as division two south sectional champions last night after a commanding 3-0 victory over the Pembroke Titans. The Tigers began the game emphatically, pressuring Pembroke early and often. As the half progressed both teams settled down and both received scoring opportunities. Pembroke failed to convert and open net at the twentieth minute luckily keeping the score knitted at zero. In the extra time of the first half Nathaniel Cardoza buried a header delivered by Chris Lawrence. Oliver Ames controlled much of the second half and dominated late in the game scoring two goals in the final minutes of the game. Jack Sheldon displayed nifty and precise dribbling moves and set up Matt Alvarado in front of an open net to build a two goal lead. Minutes later James Gillespie was denied a goal by the Pembroke keeper, but the rebound was netted by Matt Nikichuk. Oliver Ames plays this Saturday for the state championship. The fan sections have been great so far this postseason, so be there to support the team!
