The OA girls soccer senior night was a huge success last Thursday. Although the final score of game was not in their favor, it does not depict how hard the girls fought. Prior to the game, each of the nine seniors took their turn being thanked for their participation in Oliver Ames soccer. The night was so special because for most, it’s one of their last games playing in a competitive soccer organization. It is hard to imagine the countless years, hours, success, and heartache endured by the girls. All nine seniors were starters, and all nine brought a fire to the field I have never seen.
Although it was a sentimental night, the girls played not only with their heart, but tons of grit. From the moment they huddled up together and screamed their chant, the girls appeared to be locked in. From a teenager in the fan section’s perspective, the girls deserved to win the game. They fired intense shots at the opposing goalie, but nothing seemed to go their way. Every time I looked up it seemed the Tigers had possession. Sometimes the better team does not win, and that was definitely the story of the game last Thursday. Attleboro had one lucky goal, while Oliver Ames had what seemed to be over a dozen shots on net. Despite the outcome, the senior girls will remember this night for the rest of their lives. Hopefully the roar of the fan section will ring in their head, “Thank you seniors…”. From the Daily Olivian we wish all of them good luck, and a thank you for playing OA soccer.
