This week is going to focus on what a particular junior at Oliver Ames High School known by the name of Priya Merchia has been streaming recently. Here are her top five tracks at the moment:
Dark Queen by Lil Uzi vert
No Option by Post Malone
Fingers Blue by SmokePurpp
Damage by PARTYNEXTDOOR
Silence by Khalid and Marshmello
After listening to each track, my two favorites have to be Fingers Blue and No Option. SmokePurpp’s hard-hitting style and the overall flow he has definitely enhances “Fingers Blue” and is what drew me to the song the most. His new album Deadstar is okay, though a lot of the songs do sound the same which can get very repetitive after time. However, this contrasts the ever-evolving style of Post Malone, the artist of my other favorite track on this list. Post Malone can do anything, from fast in-your-face tracks to more emotional tracks about breakups and life troubles. No Option’s beat compliments Post Malone’s voice and style perfectly. Though both of these songs and artists are different, I had to say I thoroughly enjoyed the both of them. However, my least favorite song here has to be Silence. Khalid does good as the feature on this track, but Marshmello’s repetitive EDM sound that was once original is now very boring to me. The sad sounding chords mixed with the tropical drums is something I have heard too often already, especially in recent times. It is a great party song, but it is hard just sitting down and listening to it, which might say something new about the music industry…perhaps they’ll be more on this in the next Streaming Now issue? You’ll have to read it to find out!
