Athlete of the Week: Sadie Homer

October 19, 2017 By The Daily Olivian

By Chris Pearsons

The athlete that stood out from last week was Sadie Homer, on the volleyball team. Because of her success on the court, she has been named the most recent player of the week.

Sadie had a pair of 13 and 26 digs in her past two games. Volleyball digging is essential for having a successful defense and in turn, a team. The job of a volleyball digger is to prevent the ball from hitting the floor after being spiked by the opposing team. To dig, the volleyball players must anticipate the spike and be prepared to quickly dive in any direction.

This means Sadie played a prominent role in OA volleyballs tremendous comeback season. The team that started out 0-6 is now 6-8 despite their numerous injuries.  Sadie and others have stepped up this season and helped transform this team into the comeback kids.
