I just never thought about it. How am I a junior in high school, just NOW realizing I need to get some extracurricular activities under my belt?
So I was looking at the long and non-amusing list of things that were just going to make me miserable, and it was a process. I was giving it a long look and naming everything that could possibly be bad about the club.
First thing on the list that I see is Amnesty International. I can guarantee that I would never guess what the club is, and if I were to guess, I would assume it was an airline.
Then there is the Chess Club. The whole point of chess is to be a step ahead of the next person, and I am a more “Live in the now” type of person so I’d rather not deal with all that mental preparation.
I can say forget it to the Marching Band because I would rather “march to my own drum” and I would not look to good in the outfits. Or I might just be really lazy and do not want to carry around instruments that are heavier than me.
Now obviously you can not be too picky because beggars can’t be choosers, but just trying to find something that I have patience for was way too hard. Me joining Art Club would just be unrealistic because I can barely even draw a stick figure. The best thing I can probably draw is a smiley face and hearts, which are doodled all over my school work.
But in all honesty, I think being a columnist for the school is kind of cool and different. I can admit that I am a pretty open person and I am not to afraid to say anything just because I might be afraid of what others might say.
