The Senior Kindness Club is a club at Oliver Ames run by Sandy Elias and advised by Mrs. Porter. The club works with The Residence at Five Corners in Easton to provide a fun and interesting experience to both the seniors and the kids participating.
Mrs. Porter said the club is “a great way for the youth of Easton to connect with senior citizens.” Elias, a junior, said it “closes the age gap between seniors and teens” and that the youth can learn from them because “they’ve been through all aspects of life.”
On Sept. 23rd, the Senior Kindness Club held an event at the Residence that promoted Annie’s Kindness Blankets. Annie was a mother and nurse who committed suicide after her divorce. Now the organization makes and donates hand-tied blankets to hospitals for children. The participating kids cut out the template for the seniors who then tied the blankets together. The event was a fun relaxing way to spend a Saturday.
