Most of us these days pick up our phones and listen to Spotify or something similar when we’re doing pretty much anything, whether we’re on the way to somewhere or just studying at home. Even though I don’t have specific playlists for these situations, I seem to always know exactly what songs to listen to when I’m in them.
If I’m in the car on the way to somewhere and I get bored, I might listen to some pop music. This could mean the latest songs by Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, or many more artists. An example of one of my favorites is “Reminding Me” by Shawn Hook and Vanessa Hudgens. This song is a bit slow but is still is a great way to wind down in the car, especially when traveling long distance.
Another song I listen to is “HUMBLE.” by Kendrick Lamar. I listen to this song whenever I really want be awake, and it will help me get excited for something like a party or a football game.
Then there are the songs that I listen to when I am at home or studying. When I study, I listen to really slow songs. This way I don’t get too caught up in them and get distracted — it works out well. The songs I listen to in these times are songs like “YOUTH” by Troye Sivan, and “Isn’t She Lovely” by Anthem Lights. These are also the perfect songs to have as background music when reading a book in bed, or in the morning on the way to school as they help me be less tired when I get to school but also don’t annoy me in the early mornings.
I consider these the main two categories of music that I listen to: one for traveling and exciting times and another for winding down and studying. They are for different moods and times during the day, depending on if I am happy, tired, stressed, or sad. They all help me get through the day for different reasons. It’s interesting how different kinds of music are incredibly useful for different things, but it’s helpful.
