Elizabeth Nuss is this year’s first athlete of the week! With her impressive 10 goals thus far, she has led OA field hockey to a great start to the season. In their first 8 games they have put up a record of 6-1-1, only losing to King Phillip. Dominating the Hock, they have had to play their fair share of competitive teams. Liz says “we have beat some tough teams but still have plenty to work on because we still have even tougher teams to play.”
Elizabeth has contributed to the team in a variety of ways. Not only has she been a dynamic scorer, Liz is also a fantastic team player. With 2 assists on the season, she is creating better opportunities for all her teammates. OA Field Hockey isn’t only becoming a cohesive unit on the field, but off the field as well, with a large portion of the credit due to Liz. Liz has put in effort to get to know the younger players and says that “the team has really bonded together well”. This gives them a gigantic advantage, leading to success in their games.
Coming off of an ACL injury from last year, Liz is trying to make the most out of her final season at OA. She even says she “has come back stronger” and it’s certainly been showing. “I’ve improved on my stick skills, focused on distracting the opposing goalie through off ball movement, and been more aggressive” says Liz. Through this determination, she has led her team to a great season, making enjoyable for her teammates, coach, and members of Oliver Ames. Come support Liz and the rest of the Field Hockey team next Thursday when they play Milford at home and try to add another W to the win column!
