My name is Bret Silverman, and I am a sophomore here at OA. One of my passions is good music, and I’ve found that many other people enjoy a good song as well. So, my time task for the Olivian is to find out what people at OA are streaming — music, video, movies – and everything in between.
Matt Campbell is first up! He’s the senior Class President and is involved in both soccer and track. I asked him what his top five tracks currently are and here is what he said:
Rockstar by Post Malone ft: 21 Savage
Dark Queen by Lil Uzi Vert
Fix A Drink by Chris Johnson
Unforgettable by Thomas Rhett
When it Rains it Pours by Luke Combs
I gave these songs a few good listens and I do say I enjoy them, maybe just as much as he does. Though Hip-Hop and Country come from two completely different worlds they do seem to have the same basic themes, so I can see how he would like both genres. Out of all of the songs he chose, my personal favorite would have to be “Rockstar.” This song, which features many references to 60s Rock and Roll, debuted No 2. On the Billboard Hot 100. Post Malone has had a big blowup ever since his release of White Iverson in 2016. My least favorite would have to be Dark Queen. Though Luv is Rage 2 is a fantastic album overall, this song is not for me. The basic trap beat and the auto-tune of the vocals do not match very well in my opinion, but I respect Matt’s choice.
