Monday’s With Matt: Time for time

I thought of the funniest thing Monday night. Warning I have a very different sense of humor. It is funny that we as people try to give everything an answer or an explanation.
For example, this weekend was daylight savings time and we theoretically lived a 25 hour day. Isn’t that crazy? Could you feel it? Probably not. Well, maybe you felt more rested but that’s not the point. We as humans make up theoretical concepts or answers for things for self satisfaction. All those numbers you learned and now know didn’t come from a tree . It’s just a system of organization that was made to make peoples’ lives more satisfying. Crazy to think about.
However, I hate thinking about a topic like this sometimes because of the contradiction it causes in my thoughts. Like what do I do with my time if time only theoretically exists? Why does time seem to “fly by” sometimes and other time it seems to be the longest day of your lives?
Take daydreaming. Personally, I daydream a lot. And I can day dream for five minutes and feel like I live a whole other life. But why? Why is this weird kid who writes these article that 3 people read talking about time and thinking about time and obsessing about time. Well, it’s because he’s afraid he’s going to run out. It is that simple. You can live the next five seconds if you are contemplating the last thirty. This whole concept of running out of time might seem cliche, but I don’t really care. It’s what I’ve been really thinking of this week and in my opinion I believe if we were all aware of the rapidness time then life might just slow down a little more just so we could see the reds a little brighter and the blues a little colder.
